The Free Illinois Drug Card is designed to provide assistance to the uninsured or under-insured residents of Illinois. There are no eligibility requirements or restrictions imposed to get a card - everyone is eligible to use the Illinois Drug Card regardless of income, age, or other coverage status. If you have recently lost your job or lost your health benefits through your employer then the Illinois drug card program is here to help you save at your local pharmacy. This card is accepted at all major chains in Illinois including Walgreens, CVS, Rite-Aid, Osco, Dominicks, and many others. If your insurance company does not cover certain medications you may benefit by using this discount drug card as well. Visit our entire web site for information on reducing your medication costs. We provide tips to save you money at the pharmacy. Medical assistance for the uninsured can be difficult to understand and find. We have made the process easy for people that need help with prescription drug costs. Our card provides discounts at your local pharmacy and is free to everyone. There are no qualifications and no limits with our card. If you are 65 years or older AND have a total annual income of no more than $23,225 ($31,264 for couples) you may qualify for the Illinois Cares Rx Plus program. Illinois Cares Rx is an offical State of Illinois Sponsored program that offers additional pharmacy benefits. If you qualify, Illinois Cares Rx Plus covers almost all prescription drugs. There is also another official State of Illinois Rx Program called Illinois Cares Rx Basic for adults 65 years of age or older or people with disabilities aged 16 and over and have a total annual income of no more than $24,808 for self filers, no more than $32,916 if you filing an application for yourself and your spouse. If you qualify for these programs, Illinois Cares Rx Basic will cover your prescription drug costs that treat these 10 common diseases: Alzheimer’s disease, Arthritis, Cancer, Diabetes, Glaucoma, Cardiovascular disease, Lung disease and smoking-related illnesses, Osteoporosis, Parkinson’s disease, and Multiple sclerosis.
